Track Vacations for Children & Staff

Summer Vacation FunThe sun is shining and warm weather is here. That means summer fun and family vacations for children enrolled at your preschool or early learning center. In fact, you might even squeeze in some well-deserved vacation time for yourself and other members of your staff.

To make tracking vacation for children and staff easier, Procare Software offers a number of built-in tools. Keeping Track of Child Vacation Hours

Boy at Fishing HoleAs your summer programs get under way, family vacations will be coming up too. And although getting away to a favorite fishing hole may be fun, you don’t want to be fishing around when it comes to tracking child vacation hours.

If your child care policy allows families to take a specified number of vacation days, you’ll certainly need a way to record that time. You may also want to issue vacation credits—or skip vacationing families when posting summer tuition for a given week.

As any young fisherman will tell you, there’s more than one way to catch a fish. There’s also more than one way to manage child vacation hours. Continue reading

Summer Vacations & Childcare Management

Bear Visiting CampgroundAh, summer vacations. Everyone has their favorite type of getaway. My family tends to like camping, especially near the beach. And although we’ve never come face to face with a bear, we certainly have had our share of run-ins with raccoons, squirrels and an assortment of feathered friends.

Many of the campgrounds at which we like to stay require reservations months in advance. Hopefully, the families and staff at your childcare center, daycare or preschool are letting you know their vacation plans ahead of time too. That’s good information, so you can plan ahead, but what do you do with it? How do you keep track of planned vacations for family and staff, as well as issue vacation credits to your families?

While researching topics for today’s post, I discovered we have covered vacation related items in the past. But, since they have tended to be written as separate, individual posts, there was not an easy way to find all the information in one place. For your convenience, I’ve assembled a short description of each vacation topic with a link to a more detailed article.  Continue reading

Vacation Hours, Vacation Credits & Billing Reminders

Many child care centers, daycare facilities and preschool programs allow families to take a specified number of vacation days each year. For example, a family may be given a credit for up to one week of vacation. If they exceed that time they would then be charged the standard weekly rate to hold their child’s spot.

Tracking vacation hours, tuition fees and vacation credits are tasks simplified by using Daycare Software. In this article we’ll show you how to use Procare Software® to manage vacation hours, post vacation credits, and use the built-in calendar reminder to help remember when to issue a credit. You may even choose how many vacation hours will be counted for each day. Let’s say the child was enrolled in a 4 hour a day program, but for vacation purposes your policy is to count that as a full 8 hour day. Continue reading
